Part of living in South East Queensland means that summer is incredibly humid, great weather to go the beach. However summer is also an incredibly wet season for the subtropics, for most this is not such great beach weather. I absolutely love being in the ocean when it’s raining, it feels like absolute romantic tranquility, and I find myself truly at peace, the crowds avoid the beach (must be fear of getting wet :D) So it was incredibly fitting that the first time I used the waterproof housing for my Sony A7S, it rained heavily.
The Sony enclosure, made by Meikon can only be used with the sony 24-70 lens, which leaves alot to be desired with imaging. the Unfortunate side of the enclosure is that although there is zoom control, there is no focus control, so it requires the user to set the lens to live autofocus, focus tracking. Which luckily is not too bad on the new sony mirrorless cameras. It’s little quirks do require a fair bit of getting used to.
Although it is only a single colour grade node, this footage has been graded heavily.
