I travelled down to Adealaide to Film the Launch of Orange Sky Laundry’s new van “Peggy”. It was a hectic 5:30am start in the center of town, and the day was non stop between filming and transferring video files to the editors in Sydney as our footage had to be edited and live by 5pm. It was a great challenge and I love a good deadline to really sharpen the skills.
For the shoot I used my sony A7S as it is a light and versatile camera that I can travel and setup super easily. Great for run and gun shooting and it’s also able to shoot a couple of stills as you are filming. This meant that I was able to take stills as we were shooting during the day, wifi them from the camera to my phone, edit them using Lightroom mobile and provide them to the OSL guys to use on their social media as the day went on, making engaging updates in real time super easy!
I love what the Orange Sky Laundry guys are doing and they have such a fresh approach to their charity work, and I can never get over how hard they work, it really is non stop for them.
Orange Sky Laundry is Australia’s first mobile laundry service for the homeless. A world first, started in Brisbane by two 20 year olds, the custom fitted van has been servicing parks and drop in centres across Australia and the wider community with its two industrial washers and dryers in each van.
